Cadence Walker David is a hard-driving man who hails from a severely dysfunctional family in Detroit. They are two people from two totally different worlds and Cade intends on keeping it that way – until he learns that Babyface has a past of her own.

The story is okay. I stopped reading it before I was finished. I understand that the one character was not a christian and all, but I do not wish to read bad language and too much detail of drinking and such. Personally, I read fiction as an escape from all the garbage of the world, so I choose to read christian fiction as a means of building up. There are lots of non christian characters in other books that do not use the language.

Beautiful story

The life of Cadence is wrought with difficulties from childhood on. We sense that he is a good man, but not a godly one. We are with him when he begins to notice others who seem to have changed, as a result of 'finding religion'. Cadence isn't altogether sure what that means, but he begins to poke his head up from the darkness, reluctantly curious about where 'the light' is coming from. We have access to his thoughts as he struggles with the problems of his daily life, and see a change so gradual and slight, we wonder if he will ever grasp salvation. This is a beautiful story that touched me in so many ways. We shouldn't ever give up on anyone, no matter how lost they appear - God doesn't!

Enjoyable Read

I liked this book. It was a good story. I enjoyed getting to know the characters. They were believable. Cade, a man who is a good guy but feels like he can never escape his past, so feels unworthy. Kyle, a young woman who buried her past, and is trying to be who she thinks everyone else expects her to be. I enjoyed watching these characters grow and learn.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I felt the ending was rushed. Cade spent a lot of time wondering what it meant to be "saved" and suddenly at the end of the book, without anyone explaining it to him, he is. It was almost as if someone else wrote the last few pages.
Overall...I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.
