About the Author
Rob Toulson is Professor of Creative Industries at the University of Westminster. He holds a PhD in the field of digital signal processing (awarded by Anglia Ruskin University in 2004) and a first degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University (1999). Rob has a number of year’s industrial experience in digital signal analysis, control systems design, rapid prototyping, and model based design, as well as commercial experience in sound engineering and music production. His main focus is now in developing collaborative research between the technical and creative industries.

Tim Wilmshurst is the author of Designing Embedded Systems with PIC Microcontrollers. He has been designing embedded systems since the early days of microcontrollers. For many years this was for Cambridge University, where he led a development team building original systems for research applications - for example in measurement of bullet speed, wind tunnel control, simulated earthquakes, or seeking a cure to snoring. Now he is Head of Electronic Systems at the University of Derby, where he aims to share his love of engineering design with his students.

Light and easy reading for a professional software developer of 30+ years. I'd highly recommend getting the NXP LPC1768 and the associated mbed application board to follow along with the content. Pick up some SG90 micro-servos and some 28BYJ-48 steppers while you're at it - they're cheap and help make your experiments come alive.

Excellent book on getting started with the mbed

Excellent book on getting started with the mbed. Lots of great examples along with the code to run it. I do have a lot of experience with programming and embedded systems. While the book does try to make learning about embedded systems easy, having some knowledge of programming and digital systems is helpful.

A book by its cover.

Its a beautiful book and looks good with my other collection of walkthrough books. That being said there are some glaring errors with certain parts of the book.

I'm trying not to spoil too much. Some of the "collectibles" for a certain most wanted mission, the descriptions of the places don't match the pictures given. And there's one certain scan-able area that isn't even in the area much less the picture shown that had me running to the internet. After wasting two hours of sniper shouting, building circling, glitch questioning madness.
Everything else looks good but I buy the walkthrough books so if I get stuck I don't HAVE to go on the internet.

I hope the people that got the kindle version got a better one than I did. Glad it doesn't make me mad to ink up the book putting in the right info.

Guide is okay, at best. Many mistakes and errors in it.

I've been a gamer all my life. I've bought literally hundreds of guides over the years and many of them have been BRADYGAMES guides. Just about every one of the guides I've bought have been great. However, this one fails pretty miserably. The guide for the most part is sound. The coverage of the Story Mode/Campaign is very solid. It's when it comes to the collectibles that the guide fails. There are many different side missions and collectibles in this game. The 'Enigma' side mission requires you to find 'DataPacks' throughout Gotham City. There are 200 of these DataPacks to find. The guide lists the locations and descriptions of all 200 of these DataPacks. The only problem is that only about 60% to 70% of the information is correct. About 30% to 40% of the pictures for some of the DataPacks are linked the the wrong description and vice-versa. To make matters worse, some of the DataPacks not only have the wrong picture with the wrong location description underneath them, but the descriptions are sometimes so vague that you're better off just trying to find the item on your own without the guide. The guide sometimes just confuses you more than you already are. It's just a mess. Whoever was in charge of quality control on this guide at BRADYGAMES seriously dropped the ball on this item. The guide is helpful but when you're paying this kind of money for something that's supposed to be providing you with information about the game and you get unreliable information, it's disappointing to say the least.

No issues on my end

I know other reviews are having problems with the kindle version, which is the same version that I am. I don't have a kindle hd (just a plain old kindle) so I'm using kindle cloud to read this. and I'm not having any issues making the screen bigger and its working perfectly for me. The guide is wonderful it will help to get all the collectibles and all the secrets hidden in this game. Also if you have purchased Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate there is a walkthrough section for that game as well (and its a good enough guide even though it really just explains the what each button does, and shows you a map of each location and where every item is etc, and a boss guide but no really written walkthrough for BLACKGATE) overall I would give this a 9/10

About the Author
The life and teachings of Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen anticipated and embodied the spirit of both the Second Vatican Council and the New Evangelization. A gifted orator and writer, he was a pioneer in the use of media for evangelization: His radio and television broadcasts reached an estimated 30 million weekly viewers. He also wrote more than 60 works on Christian living and theology, many of which are still in print. Born in 1895, Sheen grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and was ordained a priest for the diocese in 1919. He was ordained an auxiliary bishop in New York City in 1951. As the head of his mission agency, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith (1950 1966), and as Bishop of Rochester (1966-1969), Sheen helped create 9,000 clinics, 10,000 orphanages, and 1,200 schools; and his contributions educated 80,000 seminarians and 9,000 religious. Upon his death in 1979, Sheen was buried at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. His cause for canonization was returned to his home diocese of Peoria in January 2011, and Sheen was proclaimed "Venerable" by Pope Benedict XVI on June 28, 2012. The first miracle attributed to his intercession was approved in March 2014, paving the way for his beatification.

A very simple and holy devotion. Makes it easy to pray this particular devotion every single day. Can carry this little booklet with me when I go to multiple doctor appointments - especially when sitting in the office of my oncologist at Tufts waiting for my appointment and for "results" of tests. Very unobtrusive, very private and personal time to devote to prayer. Also, lovely add on to my devotion to the Three O'clock Hour of Divine Mercy. I say Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and then have plenty of time to respectfully and reverently pray the Stations of the Cross. Very pleased with the quality, the reverent content, the simple and humble beauty of the format, written devotion and lastly, the cost which for someone on Social Security and living below the poverty level, I appreciate immensely.

Arch-Bishop Sheen at his finest

While conveniently sized and traditionally arranged this pocket sized book is super for those who wish to practice the Stations with quiet personal reflections as only Arch Bishop Sheen can evoke. While the size is perfect to fit in a shirt pocket and allow one to follow the stations before/after mass the only reason I limit the selection to 4 stars is because I would so much like if the book contained more of Arch Bishop Sheen's reflections. He is truly an inspired Catholic communicator!

Introduction

Twilight … Avatar … Google … the Sewing Machine … the Theory of Relativity …
These were all inspired by a dream … an actual REM kind of dream that you have when you sleep. Throughout history, artists, writers, inventors, and scientists have solved problems and drawn great inspiration from their dreams. You’d be surprised how many great ideas and personal solutions you are literally “dreaming up” each and every night, too.
You see, we all dream every night, whether we remember them or not. In fact, we enter the dream state (also known as REM, Rapid Eye Movement) every ninety minutes throughout the night. Every cycle of dreaming grows in duration throughout the night. The first dream of the night may only be three minutes or so and the last dream you have before waking in the morning, provided you had a good seven to eight hours of sleep, can be forty-five minutes to an hour long. On average, you will dream about five times every night, and if you’re lucky enough to live to a ripe old age, you will have had well over 100,000 dreams throughout your lifetime!
Can’t remember your dreams or want to remember more of them? It’s easier than you think. Whenever you wake up, whether it is in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or you’re waking up for good in the morning, stay put! It is essential that you remain in the same position you wake up in because that is the position you were dreaming in. If you move your body you disconnect yourself from the dream you were in just seconds ago. If you have to wake up with an alarm, go ahead and turn it off then get right back into that position you woke up in and give yourself just a few minutes to let the dream come back to you. Don’t think about what you have to do that day. Quiet your mind. Stay put. You’ll be surprised what is there, waiting for you to capture it.
If nothing comes to you then start asking yourself questions such as, how am I feeling? Who was with me? What was I doing? These questions will help jog your memory because we always experience some form of emotion in our dreams, we are usually with someone, and we are certainly doing something. Whatever it is you remember, even if it’s just a tiny piece, please be sure to write it down or at the very least, tell it to somebody or it will be gone after breakfast. Make this a habit and you’ll start remembering more and more. It’s like a muscle, the more you do this simple exercise the stronger your dream muscle will get. I promise, those floodgates will open and you will be amazed at how much of a life you have been living at night,
That’s a lot of great ideas, advice, and solutions that unfortunately will go unnoticed, unremembered, or simply dismissed as “just a dream.” Let me assure you, after reading this book, you’ll never dismiss your dreams again.
So, what are these strange movies that play in our heads at night when we sleep? Where do they come from? What purpose do they serve? Does my dream last night about purchasing a baby crib full of spaghetti mean I need to seek professional help? WTF?
Since prehistoric times mankind has wondered about dreams. In 2001, an expedition into the Chauvet Cave in the valley of the Ardèche River in France discovered cave drawings that are believed to be depicting a dream. The ancient Romans thought dreams were messages from the gods and many would take long pilgrimages to dream temples where they would spend the night in hopes of receiving a dream of wisdom or healing. There are over 700 references to dreams and visions within the pages of the Bible, all suggesting that dreams are messages from God or His angels. The ancient Chinese believed that a dream is when the soul leaves the body to travel the world. However, if they should be suddenly awakened, their soul may fail to return to the body. Even today some Chinese aren’t too keen about having an alarm clock! Essentially, the time-tested consensus is that dreaming is a powerful experience and is connected to something greater than ourselves.
The Greek philosopher Plato was one of the first to get it right that dreams don’t come from some outside source but rather from the self … although the part of the self he believed they originated from was the liver. Two thousand years later, Sigmund Freud, the father of modern psychoanalysis, affirmed that dreams indeed come from the self, the subconscious part of the self. He even brought us a step closer by teaching us that dreams not only come from the self but are about the self … the sexually suppressed self. According to Freud, just about everything in our dream can somehow be connected to our genitals and our wanton, misguided, and lustful desires. Sigh. I guess living in the prudish Victorian Era will do that to you. Thankfully, Freud’s protégé, Carl Gustav Jung, came along and taught us that yes, dreams do come from the self, dreams are indeed about the self, and what’s more, understanding dreams helps us to improve the self, not just the sexual self but the entire self. In fact, I subscribe to Jung’s dream philosophy. I believe that everything in our dreams is connected to some part of the self or to something or someone that directly affects the self. I believe there are many common archetypes (symbols, images, and themes) that appear in all of our dreams that hold a collective or shared meaning for almost all of us. I believe that dream analysis, or oneiroscopy, which is the medical term for it, is the most insightful form of self discovery available.
I believe that dreams are so insightful and powerful because I believe that dreams are thoughts. You see, when you are dreaming, you are thinking, but on a much deeper and focused level than when you’re awake. Think about it, when you go to sleep the lights are off, your eyes are closed, and the world around you is shut out. There are no distractions. The mind doesn’t stop working at this point. Whatever your stream of thought is as you drift off continues and begins to go inward, and as your conscious, waking, literal mind slips into a state of rest, your deep inner subconscious mind takes over. Once you enter the REM phase of sleep, which is when dreaming takes place, a structure located on the brain stem called the pons, sends signals to the cerebral cortex (the region of the brain responsible for most of our thought processes) that dreaming has begun, which means some very serious and deep thinking is now happening. So, that waking stream of thought that was using words and that your conscious mind had control of is now controlled by your inner subconscious mind and is no longer using just words but is also using images, experiences, and emotions. Your thoughts have turned into dreams.
If dreams are thoughts, then why are they so bizarre? The best way that I can explain it is that when you are dreaming you are thinking with metaphors.
“He’s as healthy as a horse”; “It’s raining cats and dogs out there”; “She is such a big baby.” Metaphors compare two things in order to create a picture that helps us make our point. The next time you have a conversation, try to take a mental note of how many metaphors are used between you and the other person. You’d probably be surprised how quickly the tally will go up. We naturally communicate this way. Dreams work in the same way. But rather than speaking the metaphor, they bring it to life.
For example, if you dream of drowning, it’s no fun, but when you wake up and catch your breath, you need to ask yourself what part of your life could be compared to drowning. Where in your life are you having a hard time staying afloat? What’s bringing you down? Like a metaphor, your dreams illustrate what’s going on in your life and how you truly feel about it … and even what you need to do about it!
Believe it or not, there are many times in which our dreams will show us how to handle specific problems, especially when we dream about people we see in everyday life, like our children, our spouses, or our bosses. In this book, using real life examples, I will show you how—through our dreams—we speak to ourselves about what is going on in our lives, how we guide ourselves through difficult situations, and how we point ourselves toward what we really, truly, and deeply need to live the life we are meant to live.
This book is divided into the most common dream themes we all get such as animals, vehicles, nightmares, etc. I will show you how these various themes are connected to a specific area of your life or your personality. Rather than flipping through to the particular theme you are most interested in, I encourage you to read straight through because the skills, tips, and interpretations you’ll learn in each themed chapter tend to build on the previous chapter and I don’t want you to miss out on any important and valuable lessons. But of course, once you’ve read the book all the way through, I recommend you keep it handy so you can continue to use it as a reference. If you have a crazy dream about a lion, for instance, you can flip straight to the section about predatory cats and get the answer you are looking for.
As I mentioned before, I will be illustrating these themes with real life dream examples from real people. The examples I’ve chosen do not in any way imply that these are the only dreams that can be had containing these themes and symbols. I chose them because they are good examples of how these common themes and symbols work within the context of a dream in order to convey a message to the dreamer about his or her waking life situation. It's not magic...it's just really quite amazing

I constantly use this book for reference. A fascinating read and so entertaining with friends. I would describe myself as a normal person with a sarcastic sense of humor. I don't believe that essential oils heal cancer, I don't wear ruffled castle attire, I like modern medicine, I eat meat, I work in the tech industry, and I am skeptical about anything that sounds like it could be magical or too good to be true, etc. etc. I bought this book because I used to hear Lauri's radio spots, and they were truly great. Analyzing dreams, though it sounds like reading a crystal ball or telling your fortune, just isn't that, but dreams are rather a recap our brains tell us to summarize our day - our stresses, our successes, our goals, our relationships. The best part about the book is that you'll discover just how common our dreams are from one person to the next, and I will tell you that it is cool to learn about it. Chase dreams, for example, are all about how we're avoiding doing something in waking life. Avoiding a deadline, avoiding a conversation, avoiding a project...sound like magic?! Just read it. You will love it.

MAKES A GREAT GIFT!

Heres what I love about this book: its not a boring dream dictionary. It gives you a very intuative slant on dreams. I have given this book out many times and its a GREAT GIFT... and its really great for those hard to find a gift occasions. Anyone going through a major change in their life can use this book. I had a friend whose boyfriend commited suicide and she was plagued by horrible nightmares. I gave this book to her and now she changes her dreams and has learned what she was trying to tell herself through these awful dreams. She told me it was the most thoughtful gift and very unexpected. Another friend was plagued by bad dreams after returning from Iraq... again... it was an unusual gift I could give her to tell her I cared and wanted to help her through it. It also makes a great hostess gift, baby gift...etc... BECAUSE EVERYONE DREAMS! However, I have always wanted a thoughtful gift to give to people when life gets tough (flowers are so meh) and this is the perfect fit! I travel quite frequently and always end up in a lively discussion on the plane when I pull out this book. Thank you Lauri!

A must have book for any physician who deals with thyroid disease.

This is an extraordinary publication. This topic is not well appreciated by most clinicians. This outstanding work is a "must-have" for any internist, family physician, endocrinologist or surgeon who treats patients with thyroid disease. Congratulations to the author for addressing a topic that has not been well vetted by medical schools or residency training programs.

I was disappointed that the author did not go into more detail in the writing of this book.
I had planned to use it in a Sunday School class setting, but the format would not work.
If more information had been available on the web page about the book then I would not have purchased it.

Creative and Fun

First, I have read all of Aimee's books, and they are all equally good . . . and they are all good. Here's what I mean by good. In the world of Kindle (and ebooks) where anyone can practically publish anything and does, there are plenty of amateurs. Aimee is not an amateur. Her fiction is well written, her plots are well-thought out and different, not just variations on a theme beyond the basic genre. And Our Sissy Husbands is no different. As with all TG books, some suspension of belief is required, but the same can be said for Sci-fi, Fantasy, etc.

There's something delicious about two wives who use their husbands' competitiveness against them. There's something even more fun and exciting about two wives who manipulate their husbands beyond the point of no return, and who gently, sweetly take over their lives and trick them into a softer, sexier lifestyle, all the while convincing them to do it to themselves. You get the sense all the while that the wives are enjoying themselves. There's a gleam in their eye as they pretend that this isn't what they want, but what their poor husband seems to want. This is reverse psychology at its best with two husband sinking fast.

All of Aimee's books are good. You can't go wrong with any of them. I have the whole collection, because I enjoy her writing and the different ways she invents to lead an unsuspecting man down the tender path. I will add that my favorite story of hers is actually in the compilation Ravenwood School for Sissies, but her short in that is just an appetizer. Here, and her other books, you get the main course. Well done.

Another pet peeve of mine is length versus price. I dislike paying 2.99 for something that is 5,000 words or less. I bought her kindle books at around 4 dollars, which is a little more than I like to spend for my guilty pleasure fiction, but they're all worth it. I would spend the money again, and I'll be waiting in line for her next book, because I think it will be worth it.
